Most Certain Thing

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

In these past few days, some people I knew had passed away. Their death were all so sudden.
It is such a mystery, isn't it? We always wonder how it happened. Yesterday we saw them all good and fine and healthy, and today they were gone. We looked for sign and tried making sense of it.

How does death work?
One day it took a baby that has never even been born yet. Other day it took a man just a minute after he went home from work. And today, it worked on a life of a mother while she was giving birth.

It can come to you too, or me, without us noticing. Maybe tonight when we're asleep, maybe 20 years later when we're on a plane leaving for somewhere, maybe we die in the middle of our prayer.
In this vague, unpredictable life, death is the only certain thing.
We don't know when, but it is inevitable. Something we can't escape from.
I hope we're ready when it knocks on our door.
